Bambu Studio 2.8.4 Beta: texture import, top-surface paths and deletion prompts

The public beta released on September 22 improves texture import, slicing paths and everyday controls, while retaining a restriction on uploading beta-saved 3MF files.

Bambu Lab released Bambu Studio 2.8.4 Public Beta in its official GitHub repository on September 22, 2026, under the tag v02.08.04.57. The update focuses on texture import, slicing paths and everyday interaction.[1]

The texture import workflow speeds up model repair, adjusts automatic filament matching and replaces texture-map rendering of the original model with high-precision facet color rendering, bringing the preview closer to the printed result. Top-surface monotonic line infill also receives path optimization to reduce travel moves. Bambu Lab says the improvement becomes more noticeable as top-surface detail increases, but gives no universal percentage speed-up.[1]

Interface changes improve Device page loading, the AMS settings area and dovetail cutting operations. Before users delete a filament already used by a model, the software now displays a prompt to reduce the risk of an accidental filament reset. The Text tool gains Enter-to-newline input and line-spacing controls.[1]

For painted models, the slicing engine does not apply filament shrinkage compensation by default. When the material's shrinkage factor differs from the default 100%, the software now explains that compensation will not take effect in this scenario. Fixes also address an ADMesh stack buffer overflow security issue and a potential crash when importing OBJ files on macOS.[1]

There is a practical limitation for users considering the beta: 3MF files saved with it temporarily cannot be uploaded to MakerWorld, so uploads still require an official release version. The same release page directs macOS 26 and 27 users experiencing Device tab lag or freezes to 02.08.04.61; that version's tag page is dated September 29.[1][2]
